About Dr. Whitefield
Classes are hosted by Dr. Whitefield, who is one of the founders of The Nashville Implant Institute, a continuing education program instructing other dentists in implantology and cosmetics.
Dr. Whitefield is also one of the few implant dentists in Tennessee that is board certified in Dental Implants. Accreditation by the American Board of Implantology (ABOI) is a certification that shows advanced training and experience in the area of dental implants
Implant Surgical Training Courses
Level 1 – Live Surgery and Lecture
The Level 1 course is a 2-day course that is specifically designed for the GP that has no previous experience placing implants, but wants to learn and implement simple single implants into their practice.
Our core philosophy is to educate and train dentists in implantology so that they can offer complete implant treatment to their patients in a competent, confident and consistent manner.


Learning Goals for Attendees:
- Understand the diagnostic cascade and apply the simple single implant protocol to specific cases so that they can access/eliminate implant sites
- Follow the surgical protocol so that they can place and restore an implant in an ideal site with abundant bone.
- Care for the patient and finish the case, even in the event of complications
Day 1
Lecture
Subjects Covered in Lecture:
- Diagnosis and treatment planning
- Patient Evaluation/Diagnosis
- Site evaluation and treatment planning
- Simple socket preservation and bone grafting for GPs

Day 2
Surgery
Consists of live surgery showing several different aspects of simple implantology, including oral surgery, bone grafting and surgical implant placements. Attendees will be able to assist and observe multiple surgeries and implants placed.
Level 2 – Advanced Live Surgery and Lecture
This course will illustrate the procedures done in a more advanced implant office. Advanced grafting, sinus lifts (both internal and lateral), immediate placements, and optimal restorative options will be discussed.
Day 2
Surgery
Consists of live surgery illustrating different areas of more advanced implants. Ridge grafting, sinus lifts, immediate placements, multiple placements, and other advanced surgical procedures. Attendees will be able to assist and observe multiple surgeries, including grafting and multiple implant placements.
Level 3 – The Full Arch

This course is designed for the implant dentist that has completed Levels 1 and 2 and are more proficient at advanced implantology. Edentulous arches and their restoration options will be the focused discussion of the lecture.

Lecture
Subjects Covered in Lecture:
- Rationale for full arch implants
- Full arch bone evaluation and grafting options
- Surgical planning and technology options
- Techniques for transporting full arch impressions to digital planning software. The Implant Logistics RAM system will be fully illustrated
- Final restorative options and material selections with an emphasis on cemented vs. screw retained prosthetics.
Day 2
Surgery
Consists of larger cases in various stages of full arch restoration. The final restorative results are the focus of the entire curriculum. Affordable options, improved outcomes and patient satisfaction are the overall goals of the course.
Level 4 – LIVE hands-on surgery in the Dominican Republic
5 days of focused implant lecture and multiple implant surgeries over a wide variety of cases. Each attendee will perform multiple grafting and implant surgeries on an array of everyday cases on pre-selected patients. This course is specifically designed for the GP who wants to develop a much deeper proficiency of implant surgery.
