My Personal Implant Evolution
As a newer dentist just starting my career, I am extremely excited about the launch of our journal, Implant Evolution. Our mission is to educate dentists, specifically more general dentists, about the evolution of the dental implant market today and more importantly, the direction of the market in the future.
“There is a massive paradigm shift happening right now in the U.S. dental implant market”
Right now, there is a massive paradigm shift happening in the U.S. dental implant market. As we can all see, the implant market is absolutely exploding in spite of the fact that the vast majority of U.S. dentists do not surgically place dental implants.
Because this historic trend severely limits the access patients have to the life-changing benefits of dental implants, our mission is to fundamentally change this dynamic at a grassroots level. We are convinced that there are many more dentists out there that have the abilities, knowledge, and skills to place and restore implants competently, confidently, and consistently. We are convinced that the only barriers are that they just need a little more education, support, and encouragement.
As a contributing editor, my specific focus is promoting implant dentistry to newer dentists that are trying to find their way in the dental implant world.
Being that I myself am a brand new dentist, I completely understand the daunting task of learning implants, yet I also understand the massive benefits implants can give to my patients over the next 30-40 years of my dental career. I already feel a great responsibility to my patients to be able to provide the best dental treatments available, not just something removable or plastic. If I can’t offer them restorations similar in function to real teeth, am I truly the best dentist I can be or am I just offering the bare minimum standard of care?
Dental technologies allow us to help people in ways that dentists could only dream of 20 years ago. Now, we can actually give patients real teeth again!
That’s an amazing evolution and I am going to use all the tools at my disposal to give my patients the best outcomes that modern dentistry can offer.
In future issues, I am going to open discussions about many different aspects related to dentists learning how to do complete implant treatments.
Hopefully, we can all learn together.
My personal goal is to become a competent implant dentist that can provide my patients with the best dentistry available and I hope that you also are inspired to expand your boundaries and skills specifically with implants.
Whether you are a brand new dentist just beginning your career or an older dentist that is considering implant dentistry more thoroughly, we hope that you find Implant Evolution a great resource in the future.
